Monthly Watch Club ~ Female and Male Watch Review
December 06, 20170 Comments
Hello everyone!

I have something a little different this time around and I'm very excited about it! Monthly Watch Club, a Canadian company, reached out to me asking if I'd be interesting in doing a review now that they also offer watch subscriptions for women after offering Men's watches for about a year. I've been wanting to try watches out for quite a while now, so of course I agreed to try one out and share my thoughts! I also have a coupon code (non-affiliate) that you can use on month to month subscriptions (it will be at the end of this post).

I did mention that I have a boyfriend, Steven, who loves and knows a bunch about watches, and they offered to send one for him as well (and he was really excited to have something sent specifically to him).

Review + Pictures

The only concern I had disappeared after a few days, but I thought it'd be worth mentioning in case it happens to you as well. The day I received the watches, we set them to the proper time. In under 24 hours the watch was 10 minutes slower, and Steven's was about 3. The difference didn't continue to grow, so we reset them a second time and they have both kept time perfectly until this day! I suspect that this is probably normal with any new watch that uses a similar battery, so definitely give it a few days if you notice this as well!

Female watch (October 2017 version)

A post shared by Amy Sousa (@beautybyamysousa) on

I've been wearing my watch for over a week now and based on that I can safely say that I like it! I really like the design of the watch I received (it's the October watch and still available on the site). The strap is made of genuine leather and I love the colour! The watch is water resistant, but I don't like wearing any type of watch/bracelet/rings/etc. if I plan on getting my hands wet so I won't be testing that part out. What really caught my eye was the rose gold. Even the watch hands and numbers are rose gold! This style is perfect for me so I can see myself wearing this a lot!

Male watch (September 2017 version)

The male watch doesn't look as modern, but we love that! Steven and I really like the face of the watch with the only exception being the little 2017. Steven thinks that part looks tacky and that it dates the watch, but if that weren't there it would be perfect! The colour of the strap is also really nice, but Steven isn't a fan of the snakeskin look that a lot of people love. The watch is also water resistant, which is great for Steven because he's too lazy to take it off if he's just washing his hands. The watch looks really nice with a lot of outfits and Steven will definitely be getting a lot of wear out of it! This watch is also available on the site for purchase!

Subscription

You can either choose a male or female subscription. There are a few options in terms of how long you subscribe for: one month, three months, six months, or one full year! You will pay for whichever option you choose in one payment (rather than month by month unless you choose that option), but you do get a discount that gets better if you go for a longer subscription term.

Prices

Month to month: $39.99
Three Month:      $114.99 (Save $4.98)
Six Month:          $219.99 (Save $19.95)
One Year:            $395.99 (Save $83.89)

How the Subscription Works

Your watch will ship out on the first day of the month regardless of which plan you select. If you're buying within Canada you will receive tracking information, but not if you're international. The shipping time varies depending on where you live: Canada is 1–10 business days, USA 4–10 business days, and international can be anywhere between 6–14 business days.

Do you get to pick the watch? No. It is a surprise every time.

I did ask about skipping a month, and was told that you do have the option to skip. I can't verify how this works since I was sent the watches for review, but I'm assuming that you would have to select the option to skip before a certain date.

I asked about the difference between subscription plans. There is obviously a price difference, but I wanted to if there was anything else, and there is! If you select the 12 month (one year) plan, you will receive a 12 slot watch box with your order, which is pretty awesome if you're into watches and like displaying them nicely (you will see a picture of it on the website if you select the plan).

There is a lot of other information available in the Frequently Asked Questions section of Monthly Watch Club's website such as warranty info, dates, and so much more! You are also able to buy past watches individually on the Monthly Watch Club website, so have a look there too!

Coupon code!

I asked Monthly Watch Club if they had any coupon codes that are always available, and they sent one to me! This is a non-affiliate code so I will not be gaining anything if you use it and it is available to anyone to use on the month to month subscriptions! The code is WATCH25 and it will give you 25% off your first month on the month to month subscription. Sometimes there are other coupon codes you can use as well. At the moment that I'm writing this, there is a Cyber Monday code (extended sale) where if you use the code CYBER35 at checkout, you will receive 35% off of everything that Monthly Watch Club sells! The Cyber Monday code is still being promoted on the website, so if you don't see it there it has likely expired!

That's it for this review! If you follow me on Instagram (@beautybyamysousa) I'm sure you'll be seeing the watch in a few pictures over the holidays!

Vegan Skincare Review ~ Boo Bamboo, Acure, Surya Brasil + More!
November 21, 20170 Comments
Hello!

So Msquared Brands is amazing and sent out an awesome blogger box for consideration. For the first time ever the blogger box is entirely made up of vegan products! So far I've tried out a lot of the products and I'm very impressed. I'm going to jump right in and give very brief reviews since I usually go too crazy, but I hope this helps you!

A post shared by Amy Sousa (@beautybyamysousa) on

This is the first time I've tried out any Surya Brasil products and I love them! I'll be talking about the nail polish in a separate post, but let's talk about this lip balm.

First off, do you see that this is chocolate scented/flavoured? This is AMAZING.  This stuff truly moisturizes my lips and repairs them as well. Not only is the lip balm vegan, but it's also kosher so if you're a fan of using kosher products I highly recommend checking it out!

I've tried one Boo Bamboo mask before in a previous blogger box, but now after trying a different one I can truly say that I enjoy the. My skin felt extra moisturized after taking the mask off, but what I really noticed is that my moisturizer sunk in so much better than usual that night. My skin was also a bit brighter, which is nice since this mask promotes that it brighten's skin. The mask is of course all natural and vegan, so the low price is worth it for me! The team gave us little bio's on the product, so I will quote part of Boo Bamboo's: "Boo Bamboo formulas are completely biodegradable, cruelty free and vegan, and use food grade flavouring for the fresh scent (perfect for sensitive skin)." Having mildly sensitive skin, I can confirm that the mask did not irritate my skin whatsoever!

All Good is another brand  I've never tried before. From the photo you can see that I've received two coconut oil packets. Obviously they are really good because coconut oil is a creation sent down from the heavens. I was, however, surprised that one of them has lemongrass essential oil in it. It smells a bit different, but overall I couldn't really tell a difference between the two. You can't ever go wrong with coconut oil—especially when it's 100% natural!

A post shared by Amy Sousa (@beautybyamysousa) on

I've spoken about both Acure and The North American Hemp Co. before and love them both.

This NAHC line lifting face cream feels really nice on my face! My face feels a bit tighter after using this, but in a firm way, not a dry way. The moisturizer also soaked in quickly so my face didn't feel sticky, which is nice so my pillow doesn't stick to my face. I can't say much about long-term effects since I have a sample size of the product, but as a nighttime moisturizer I like it so it doesn't really matter to me. I think it's worth getting the full size if you're looking for a vegan moisturizer that might help with wrinkles and firming! The body lotion is also really nice, but since it's only a sample size I ran out after using it a few times. It worked really well, but I'm not so sure I'd buy the full size, mainly because I already have a favourite.

The Acure pore clarifying red clay mask surprised me. I didn't think a mask like this could clear any pores, but they actually looked noticeably cleaner after washing this off the first time. I really enjoy using this once a week before the weekend so I feel like my face has some life in it again (yes I'm weird).

That's it for this post! All of the products mentioned can be found online at Well.ca so it'll be super easy for all you Canadians who might be reading to purchase! I technically have one more skincare product to talk about, but that one is up for Steven to review so I'll include that in the next post along with the hair, body and miscellaneous products!

See you soon!

Gigi Hadid X Maybelline Collaboration Canada - Limited Edition Collection
October 24, 20170 Comments
Hello!

I have a really exciting post for you today! I received lots of information in the press release and official fact sheet, which I will be taking information from, including all of the prices! This is the first time that Maybelline is doing a limited-edition collaboration. There are two themes for this collab: New York Glam & LA Glow. "Gigi focused on developing all-in-one palettes that celebrated her girl-on-the-go, bicoastal lifestyle, while giving fans an insider’s look into her life passions" (Press Release).

Credit to Maybelline New York

Both collections will be available for pre-sale in Canada on November 17th on Amazon.ca and Walmart.ca . The collection will be physically available in retails across the country on December 5th. To my knowledge Canada won't be getting the other Gigi collab products (like those face palettes), but I did not confirm it!

Here's a look at the East Coast Collection!

And here's the whole West Coast collection!

I honestly can't pick my favourite collection as a whole, but I can break it up! For eyeshadows I definitely like the West Coast half better. West Coast also wins since they have the Liquid Strobe in Gold. It's a tie between East & West Coast for eyeliners since I'm intrigued by the nude eyeliner, but I've also never tried a Maybelline liquid eyeliner. It's also a tie for the Tinted Primers since they seem to be the same. The East Coast half definitely wins for mascara since it is a fibre mascara!

Now for what arguably most of you would want to know. Which collection am I more excited for in terms of lipstick? The picture below is of all six of the lipsticks in the collection. I personally don't like reds so I'm only interested in the East coast half (especially erin and mcaul), but I know most like reds so these might be perfect for you!

I'm going to attempt to organize all of the products and pricing by collection to make things easier! I'm a bit confused about some of these as their descriptions don't match the names on Maybelline's Instagram, but it should be ok considering when you go to purchase you'll actually see the colours! I want to reiterate that I don't know if these are the only products coming to Canada, but these were the products and prices listed! These are not set final prices. There might (likely) be sales going on so keep your eyes peeled for those!

Le Petit Marseillais Body Crème Review
September 04, 20170 Comments
Hello!

First off I want to apologize for how terrible of  a blogger I've been! I've been posting to YouTube, but have completely neglected Instagram and my blog. I LOVE blog posts, but so much has been going on recently that I've only had time for YouTube, and even then it's been a struggle.

I was sent PR almost two months ago which included a few amazing Schwarzkopf products and a wonderful body wash from Le Petit Marseillais. I've exclusively been using this body wash since I got it and can definitely give a full review.

I picked the vanilla scent because I'm incredibly picky and like to play it safe, but I have no regrets. I love how this smells, but most importantly I love how effective it is.

This body wash really gets the dirt off. I brought it to my mini cottage vacation in July and it quickly washed off all of the sand and muck that kept layering itself on my body. Not only does this wash my skin very well, but it also moisturizes it. I didn't notice too much the first few washes, but overtime I noticed that I was rarely wearing heavier body creams. Usually I'd have to use a body butter a few times a week, while using my Moorspa body lotion, which is really light, on regular days, but after using the Le Petit Marseillais body wash for two weeks, I haven't had to use anything more than my body lotion!

I love how well the body wash lathers up. I don't have to use a lot, which makes this stuff last an incredibly long time. I feel like I see beauty YouTubers going through 10 body wash bottles a year when they do empties videos, but this will probably last me another two months, making it about four (or more) months!

If you're interested in trying out this body wash, check out this page on their website (Canadian) that shows you where to purchase! If you're not in Canada, you can just look up "Le Petit Marseillais" on Google and you should find it very quickly!

June Boxy Charm - In Depth Review
July 23, 20170 Comments
Hello!

This is super super late, but at this exact moment I don't have anything else to write about, so I'm going to post it anyway! A few weeks ago I put out my June Boxycharm review video and explained that I'd put up a blog post that goes more in depth later on. This is it!

A post shared by Amy Sousa (@beautybyamysousa) on

The pic above shows all of the products I received (three face masks stacked one on top of the other). I have used everything, but one product and I'll go into that a bit later into this post.

Let's start off with the most exciting (in my opinion) product in the June box.

Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in "Illuminati"

This is the most intense highlighter that I've ever tried... EVER. I thought people were exaggerating in their reviews, but holy crap is this stuff blinding! When I did my makeup for the first time with the products from this box, I went in with my little fan brush like I do with every other highlighter and that was definitely a mistake. I ended up having a bright streak on my face and needed to work hard to blend it out. A little bit goes a very long way so this stuff will probably last me until I'm 50. The colour is amazing so I know I'll be wearing this a lot to any type of event (especially makeup events) and I can use this in my inner corner if I want to be extra fancy.

There are two downsides to this product. The first is that it is a bit glittery so be careful to not apply it too messily because you'll end up with obvious glitters all over the place. The last issue is that the packaging isn't the best and the little plastic bit that is supposed to protect the powder from falling out through the sifter doesn't do it's job. I ended up with a ton of product going all over the place because the jar had turned sideways (with the sifter part closed) and it didn't stop a thing from coming out. So beware! If you get this, and I highly recommend that you do, please be careful with it because it might make a huge pigmented mess.

Luxie Beauty Pro Precision Tapered Brush - 640

This brush is super cute! I already have two pink Luxie brushes so I was really excited to receive this one vs the black alternative from a different brand (even though I'm sure they probably work the same). This brush isn't very dense, so this will be great for applying pigmented products such as blush so you don't accidentally go overboard. I tried this with the highlighter, but it's a bit too big for my liking. I'm going to use this for blush and bronzer as well and depending on my mood, I might use this with my loose setting/baking powder for all over my face.

Ofra Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in "Santa Ana "

I was very excited for this since I've never tried an Ofra product besides a brow pencil several years back (which sucked). In recent years, so many YouTuber's have raved about the liquid lip formula so I had very high hopes for this. While the formula is nice and not drying at all, it doesn't dry down 100% so I always get transfer when kissing the back of my hand, a bit while drinking out of a glass, and the lipstick comes off easily while eating.

I do enjoy the colour since I don't have anything like it, but I also don't see myself reaching for it often. I've been trying to go for this, but I'm more of a nude or coral lip kind of girl and I've been into lipsticks and glosses recently, rather than liquid lips. I do recommend this if you don't mind transfer, and just want something that'll be matte and last all day minus food!

Realher Makeup - Eyeshadow Palette #1

I was pleasantly surprised by this palette! I heard disappointing reviews by others online so my expectations were low, but the colours that I use in this palette are actually very pretty. I mainly use the top row of this (are you really surprised?) on an everyday basis, but when it comes to nighttime makeup, I use a bunch of colours from different rows. The shadows aren't the best quality (they don't live up to Makeup Geek), but they are bendable, pigmented, and stay on all day!

Biobelle Facial Masks

I got three of these masks with the first being "#I woke up like this", the second "#beauty secret" and the third being "primer." I loved the first two as they did actually make my skin feel nice and glow, but I didn't go near the last one. I'm super allergic to Tea Tree oil and it gets worse if it touches my face. That's one of the main ingredients (even states it on the front of the packaging) so I decided to not try it out. The good news with that is that I decided to add it into my 1000 subscriber giveaway for whenever that happens!

Here's the video where I talk about the products while also wearing them!
